Dietary Indiscretion and Food Sensitivity
The most frequent cause of sudden vomiting and diarrhea is simply eating something the puppy shouldn't have. This includes spoiled food from the trash, rich human food, dead animals, or even non-food items like toys or fabric. A sudden change in diet, such as switching kibble brands too quickly, can also overwhelm the digestive system. Food allergies or intolerances, while less common, can manifest as chronic loose stools and intermittent vomiting, often alongside skin issues like itching or ear infections.
Pathogens and Parasites
Young dogs are particularly susceptible to infections from bacteria, viruses, and parasites found in the environment or contaminated water.
