Brake dust is a fine, dark powder created by the friction of pads against rotors. Iron particles are microscopic metal shavings from the rotor that oxidize and bond to the alloy surface. Tar and road grime are sticky residues from asphalt and environmental pollution that cling stubbornly to the wheel’s nooks and crannies.
Safety First and Preparation
Safety is the non-negotiable first step in the process. You must never clean a motorcycle while it is resting on its sidestand; the wheels must be elevated or the motorcycle securely lifted on a center stand or paddock stand.
